What this is
Small Farm Fund Finder is a free, filterable directory of grants, loans, and technical assistance for market gardeners, small diversified farms, and small ag businesses. You can filter by state, operation type, and who's applying, save what looks promising, compare programs side by side, and answer a few questions to get back a short list of what you're actually ready to apply for. It's free to use, with no paid tier. Built and maintained by Drew Keske.
Why it exists
The money is out there, but finding it is a second job. Programs live on dozens of agency and nonprofit sites, each written for a different reader, and the ones aimed at small acreage are the easiest to miss. Most growers give up before they get to the application. Putting the programs in one place, in plain language, with the deadline and the eligibility catch up front, is meant to shorten that search to an evening.
Who it's for
Market gardeners, small diversified farms, orchardists, cut-flower growers, urban farms, and small value-added food businesses. Funding for these operations is scattered across federal agencies, state ag departments, tribal organizations, and dozens of small nonprofits — there's no single place to look. This is an attempt at one.
How programs get on the list
Every entry is hand-checked against the administering agency's own page. A program makes the list if a small operation could realistically apply and win it. That includes technical assistance — free expert help that doesn't come with a check but is often worth more than a small grant. The list currently holds 327 programs and was last reviewed August 2026.
What's still missing
State coverage is uneven — a few states are represented, most aren't yet. Regional grower associations, community foundations, and county-level programs are almost certainly under-represented. If you know one, send it in from the button on the home page. Feedback on what's confusing or missing is just as welcome.

This is not official government guidance and isn't affiliated with USDA or any listed agency. Deadlines, funding levels, and eligibility rules change constantly. Always confirm on the official program page and with your local NRCS, FSA, extension, or state agriculture office before you build a plan around any of it.
